Due to School Annual Exams and Summer Vacation, the screening of the students will not be scheduled from April to June 2017. However, students who have been advised surgeries and other procedures would be encouraged to take up the services.
First of its kind in the Country, this custom made Air-conditioned Bus is equipped with Ophthalmic Diagnostic equipment like Auto-refracto Meter, Non-contact Keratometer, Refraction Unit, Slit lamp for Biomicroscopy, Ophthalmic Chair Unit and an Optical Counter to provide the entire range of services.
There is Tele-Medicine equipment fitted in the bus, providing the connectivity with the Base Hospital of Sankara, there by facilitating appropriate interactions with the Ophthalmic specialists. The parents, the students and the Doctors are able to interact freely through this tele-link, paving way for an effective treatment.
The bus also has a provision for Audio-Visual presentations, which in turn is imparted to the students, parents and teachers. Useful topics like good reading habits, good playing habits, nutrition and eye and many more have been included in this awareness programme.
An exclusive software captures the data real time, giving all the necessary information to the Base Hospital. The portal created for the Rainbow Programme, again provides the necessary information to all the stakeholders like the Doctors at the Hospital, Rotarians in India and those Rotarians who have supported from abroad.
The bus is fitted with a GPS equipment, which helps us to monitor the daily routine. On all 5 days in a week, the bus travels to the village schools. From 9 am to 5 pm, everyday the bus will be stationed in a school, examining the children.
